MotoGP’s silly season can oftentimes be quite confusing so we compiled a handy guide on how long each MotoGP rider has a contract for.
There’s still a whole load of announcements to come so keep an eye on MGP1 so you don’t miss a single thing of MotoGP’s silly season!
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team)
With the 2023 championship title sealed and potential for many more race wins and title fights, Francesco Bagnaia’s contract extension with Ducati was no surprise to anyone. The Italian dream team will work together until the end of 2026…for now.
Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team)
Following Marc Marquez joining the factory Ducati squad, Enea Bastianini has found a new home for 2025 & 2026 in the Tech 3 team where he will run the newest spec KTM RC-16.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Team)
At KTM’s home Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in 2023, Brad Binder and the Mattighofen-based manufacturer agreed on a contract extension until the end of 2026. It will be the years 10,11 and 12 within the KTM ranks for the South African and, to be fair, we can’t think of a reason why the would break up after that.
Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Team)
Jack Miller will stay with KTM until the end of 2024. However, given Pedro Acosta will join the team in 2025 and Miller lacking results his time with the Austrian outfit is over. A switch to GasGas for 2025 might still be on the cards.
Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing)
At the age of 34, Aleix Espargaro is the oldest MotoGP rider on the grid. The Spaniard has announced he will retire after the 2024 season.
Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing)
Maverick Vinales has found a new home for 2025 & 2026 in the Tech 3 team where he will run the newest spec KTM RC-16.
Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP)
Rather surprisingly and despite the Yamaha being far from contention at the start of the 2024 season, Fabio Quartararo renewed his contract with the Japanese manufacturer for another two years. The Frenchman will stay in blue until the end of 2026.
Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP)
After a solid start to his first Yamaha season, Alex Rins has earned himself a new, big two-year contract with the Japanese manufacturer putting him on the M1 next to Fabio Quartararo for 2025 & 2026.
Luca Marini (Repsol Honda Team)
Following the premature Marquez-Honda split, Luca Marini made the switch into the Repsol-sponsored team ahead of the 2024 season. Following his dream of becoming a MotoGP factory rider, the Italian signed a two-year deal, running until the end of 2025, with the Japanese outfit.
Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team)
Joan Mir signed a new contract with Honda until the end of 2026 during the summer break. Despite huge troubles with the RC213V the former World Champion will remain with the Japanese manufacturer.
Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing)
In a surprising blockbuster move, Jorge Martin will join Aprilia Racing on a two-year deal after the 2024 season.
Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing)
Following Pramac’s switch to Yamaha, Franco Morbidelli will leave the team after the 2024 season. Although not yte confirmed by VR46, Davide Tardozzi told Canal+ the Italian will ride a Ducati GP24 in the VR46 Racing Team in 2025.
Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team)
Marco Bezzecchi has finally jumped onto factory material as the Italian will join Aprilia Racing after the 2024 season on a “multi-year deal”. As for his new teammate Martin, the multi-year deal is likely a two-year contract.
Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team)
Following a very solid start to the 2024 season, Fabio Di Giannantonio has been given a two-year Ducati contract for 2025 & 2026. He will stay with the VR46 team next season running a factory-spec Desmosedici.
Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP)
Alex Marquez will stay with Gresini Racing until the end of 2026 following a two-year contract extension with the team.
Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP)
The eight-time World Champion will join the Ducati factory team to become Pecco Bagnaia’s teammate for 2025 and 2026.
Johann Zarco (LCR Honda CASTROL)
Following his departure from Pramac Ducati, Johann Zarco was able to sign a two-year deal with Honda until the end of 2025. However, being on the latter end of his premier-class career, the Frenchman will likely have to look at another series after his current paper runs out.
Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda)
After seven years in MotoGP with LCR Honda, Takaaki Nakagami will retire from full-time racing after the 2024 season and become a HRC development rider.
Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing MotoGP)
Having split with KTM at the end of 2022, Miguel Oliveira found a new home in the Trackhouse Racing satellite team. The Portuguese is contracted to Aprilia until the end of 2024 and will look to find a way into the Aprilia factory team for 2025.
Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing MotoGP)
Having split with Tech3 at the end of 2022, Raul Fernandez found a new home in the Trackhouse Racing satellite team. The Spaniard will remain with the team until the end of 2026.
Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3)
MotoGP’s super-rookie signed a multi-year deal with KTM to join the Austrians’ factory team in 2025.
Augusto Fernandez (Tech3 GASGAS Factory Racing)
Augusto Fernandez has a KTM contract until the end of 2024 and, with the Spaniard lacking decent results his second season in MotoGP might also be his last as rumors he might join Yamaha test team for 2025 creep around the paddock.
