Fractures! Jorge Martin to Miss Remainder of MotoGP Sepang Test
Reigning World Champion Jorge Martin will miss the remainder of the Sepang MotoGP test after suffering fractures following a major crash.
Jorge Martin is set to miss MotoGP’s final test of the season in Thailand. Will he recover in time for the season opener?
While the Spaniard escaped serious head injuries, he sustained a fractured metacarpal bone and a minor fracture in his left foot, the latter not requiring medical intervention.
“Jorge Martin has undergone surgery for a displaced fracture of the head of the fifth metacarpal in his right hand. A reduction and percutaneous fixation with an intramedullary screw without compression were performed.”
“We believe he will be able to start functional recovery in a short period,” stated Dr. Xavier Mir in the official medical report. On Saturday, MotoGP’s medical director, Dr. Angel Charte, confirmed to Motorsport.com that Martin has been discharged and can begin his recovery at home.
However, Charte also clarified that Martin “will not be able to take part in [MotoGP’s final preseason] test” in Thailand next week.
The Spaniard has completed just 13 laps on his new Aprilia. Missing the Buriram test, the Spaniard’s first real outing on his 2025 RS-GP will be Free Practice 1 at MotoGP’s season opener in Thailand. He will also likely be still recovering from his injuries.

Additionally, Martin will also miss MotoGP’s first-ever season launch event in Bangkok this Sunday, where the Spaniard was expected to be main attractions.
However, his injuries will keep him from attending. He will be joined on the sidelines by Fabio Di Giannantonio, who has also been ruled out of next week’s test sessions.
Raul Fernandez, who injured his left hand during the opening day of the Sepang test, traveled to Barcelona for immediate surgery.
Having received medical clearance, he is set to return to Thailand to try to take part in the final pre-season test in Buriram starting on Wednesday.
