Gresini Racing rider Franco Morbidelli topped the timesheets on day three of MotoGP’s Sepang test. The Spaniard put in a 1:56.493 and led former world champions Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo.
Marquez spent most of the day topping the timing sheets, being only briefly pushed down to P2 by Bagnaia before eventually retaking the lead later on.
Having led the field on day two, Franco Morbidelli fininshed the day fourth-fastest ahead of factory Ducati newcomer Marc Marquez who turned heads when he put in a very quick sprint simulation being only beaten on the topic by his brother.
Both Marquezs averaged low 1:57.9 which is impressive given the best-ever sprint lap around Sepang is a 1:57.8 set by Jorge Martin in last year’s sprint.
Pedro Acosta was the leading KTM rider in 6th, +0.682s off the pace just ahead of the top Honda of LCR’s Johann Zarco.
Joan Mir finished the day 8th on his factory Honda after a late time-attack resulting in an improvement to a 1:57.279.
MotoGP rookie Fermin Aldeguer who surprised with two Top 5 finishes in the first two days was not able to go another step further and ended the day in 11th right behind Alex Rins.
The award for busiest rider of the day goes to Marc Marquez. The Spaniard completed a massive 70 laps.
