BMW spearhead Toprak Razgatlioglu experienced an eventful break between the WSBK weekends in Misano and Donington.

After his triple victory at the previous event in Misano, Razgatlioglu was the centre of attention. The Turk’s successes in the Superbike World Championship had once again put him in the running for a move up to MotoGP.

The rumours were fuelled by surprising statements from manager and mentor Kenan Sofuoglu, who hinted at a switch as early as 2025.

However, there is no attractive place for Razgatlioglu in MotoGP. Manager Sofuoglu already rowed back and confirmed that his protégé will continue to ride a BMW M1000RR in the 2025 WSBK season.

Razgatlioglu himself confirmed the fulfilment of the BMW contract as well: “We will continue with BMW next year. Let’s see what happens in the 2026 season, but that has not yet been decided. That will be clarified next year. We have to forget about MotoGP now.”

The Turkish crowd favourite wants to forget about MotoGP for the time being. “Everyone says that I should switch to MotoGP. I’m not going to MotoGP just to be the first Turkish rider there. I want to fight for the championship there,” he clarifies.

Razgatlioglu already realised that the transition from superbike to MotoGP prototype is not easy during the two tests with the Yamaha M1, which for various reasons were not as positive as he had imagined. “The superbike and the MotoGP bike are completely different,” says Razgatlioglu.
