It was mid-August when MotoGP’s newest addition, Trackshoue Racing, confirmed the signing of Ai Ogura for the 2025 and 2026 seasonsThe Japanese talent will partner with Raúl Fernández, who has been making impressive strides with the team.

However, after the American team did not go through with the signing of fellow American Joe Roberts to form a US-dreamteam in MotoGP,  team owner Justn Marks explained the decision to pick Ai Ogura over Roberts.

“It was a lengthy process to define our future rider lineup. Raúl was an easy choice due to his rapid progress and seamless integration into the team,” Marks explained.

“As for Ogura, we were drawn to his talent, dedication, speed, and focus, which made him the ideal candidate. Additionally, from a business perspective, having a rider from Asia alongside a European rider brings economic advantages.”

The American acknowledged the challenges ahead, particularly with Aprilia welcoming three new riders next season, none of whom have prior experience with the RS-GP.

“Having experienced riders is invaluable, especially in a sport where continuous bike development is crucial,” Marks noted.

“Next year, Aprilia will face the challenge of only having one rider with prior experience on the Aprilia, and that’s Raúl. However, his growing experience and understanding of the bike will be crucial.”

“He’s not a veteran yet, but he’s quickly gaining the knowledge needed to help us develop the bike further. He’ll also be in a position to assist Ogura.”

Ogura coming in for 2025 means the team will not extend their work with Miguel Oliveira. However, despite the Portuguese leaving the team, and is heading for one of the vacant spots at Pramac Yamaha, Marks wants him to remain a crucial part of the team’s development for the future.

“Miguel is an exceptional talent with significant experience and success. We’ve learned a great deal from him this year, especially given his podium finishes and impressive speed.”

“Our goal is to be a strong partner for Aprilia and to contribute to the bike’s development, with Miguel playing a key role in that.”
