MotoGP’s practice and qualifying structure is set to be fully standardized across all three grand prix classes from the 2025 season, with Moto2 and Moto3 adopting the same training format as the premier class.

Currently, MotoGP features two untimed free practice sessions – one on Friday morning and another on Saturday morning – dedicated to bike setup and race preparation. The crucial session for securing a direct spot in Q2 is the time attack session on Friday afternoon.

Until now, Moto2 and Moto3 followed a different structure, with only one free practice session on Friday morning, followed by two timed sessions – one on Friday afternoon and another on Saturday morning – that collectively determined which riders advanced directly to Q2.

From 2025, to align all categories and build consistency across the championship, both Moto2 and Moto3 will mirror MotoGP’s format, introducing two free practice sessions and a single timed session that determines Q2 entry.
