Jorge Martin has kicked off his journey with Aprilia Racing on a positive note, testing the RS-GP for the first time during MotoGP’s post-season outing in Barcelona.

The Spaniard, who has left his long-standing partnership with Pramac Ducati to secure a factory ride with Aprilia for 2025, spoke with optimism about the team’s progress and the bike’s potential.

“I can’t say much about the bike but the joy I felt was clear to everyone who was there. I was happy, and I don’t think I could be happier anywhere else than with Aprilia.”

Transitioning from Ducati’s Desmosedici to the Aprilia, the reigning World Champion’s debut session with the Noale manufacturer was eagerly anticipated. Despite keeping detailed assessments under wraps, his enthusiasm for the project was quite evident after the test.

“I believe the new package is very interesting, and the leap the bike has made is the biggest in recent years. The potential is high, and it looks very promising.”

Having spent his MotoGP career so far aboard Ducati machinery, Martin now faces the task of adapting to Aprilia’s different technical approach and working methods. However, his early impressions suggest the Spaniard is happy with the direction the team is heading in for 2025.

Aprilia Racing CEO and now President of MotoGP’s Constructors’ Association Massimo Rivola believes in the potential of Aprilia’s upgraded 2025 RS-GP and the star-studded lineup. “It is realistic that we will close the gap [to Ducati].”

“It’s Realistic” – Massimo Rivola Lays Out Aprilia Main Goal for 2025 MotoGP

Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola outlines realistic goals for the 2025 MotoGP season after Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi's first RS-GP test.

“Of course, Jorge’s expectations as the world champion are very high, but we don’t want to put pressure on him. It’s a great challenge, and with our rider lineup, we can achieve good results.”

“Both riders reported the bike is very nice to ride under braking and on corner entry. It also has good turning. However, the main issue is consistency – it’s more difficult to repeat lap times with the bike. That’s where we need to focus our efforts.”
