"It's Impossible" - Aleix Espargaro Ruled Out Of German Grand Prix
Following his nasty crash in the Sprint at Assen, Aleix Espargaro will have to sit out the German GP due to some massive hand pain.
After fracturing a metacarpal in a high-speed crash at Assen, Aleix Espargaro was keen to get back to racing as early as the German Grand Prix.
Unfortunately, the Spaniard’s plan hasn’t worked out quite the way he wanted. Following a few test laps in Free Practice 1 at the Sachsenring, the Aprilia rider has decided to withdraw from the weekend.
“I tried my best but it’s impossible [to race]. Every time I turn in, I can’t really accelerate and it’s a danger, also for the others,” he said while his MotoGP colleagues were still running in FP1.
The Spaniard will now have the full summer break to recover his hand and will look to be back in perfect shape for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in mid-August.
