Following MotoGP’s post-season test in Barcelona, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez share their thoughts on Ducati’s GP25. Although further development seems necessary, both riders feel the bike is a great base to build from with a lot of potential for the future.

Bagnaia was pleased with the GP25’s early performance. Having done 56 laps in Barcelona, the Italian found some major differences to the 2024 Ducati. “The GP25 has a good base to start developing and improving.”

“The difference between the ’24 and ’25 is quite huge already. Stability in fast corners and the engine are great, but we still need to adapt the setup and improve the braking, where the GP24 is still better.”

The test also marked the first collaborative effort between Bagnaia and his new teammate, Marc Marquez. The two former World Champions found common ground in their feedback towards the team.

“Luckily, Marc and I had the same feeling about the bike, which is very important to go in the same direction on development,” Bagnaia revealed.

Marquez, fresh from his Gresini stint, echoed the Italian’s sentiments. “It’s not easy to show up with a new bike and match the level of the one that raced last year,” he admitted. “But both Pecco’s feedback and mine were very similar, which simplifies things for the engineers.”

“Testing with a factory team means trying many things and being precise with feedback. The GP25 has potential, but we need more work to close the gap to the GP24,” he said.

Both riders will have another opportunity to evaluate the GP25 at the Sepang test next February, where further updates to Ducati’s 2025 challenger are expected.
