Fabio Di Giannantonio arrives at Phillip Island with cautious optimism. Still recovering from a shoulder injury suffered earlier in the season, he spoke about his current state after the Japanese GP:
“In Motegi I felt better, both on the bike and physically,” Di Giannantonio revealed, showing some signs of progress.
“I went back home and used the week to rest and recover. I did some more medical checks.”
“I am not at 100%, it won’t be easy to manage this season finale but I’ll be on the track and I’ll continue to give of my best to get back in the slipstream of the strongest riders.”
The road to full recovery is steep for the Italian, but Di Giannantonio is determined to make sure that he finishes this season on a high note.
However, he doesn’t deny that competing at less than full fitness around a physically demanding circuit like Phillip Island will be difficult.
Yet for Di Giannantonio, Phillip Island is much more than a set of challenges: it’s a track filled with personal meaning – a place where his career-defining maiden MotoGP podium started THE comeback story of the 2023 season.
“The Phillip Island Circuit is surely unique, whatever the direction from which one looks at it. One of my favourite tracks- very fast and with sweet memories.”
“In 2023, I got my first podium in MotoGP, a moment that I’ll never forget, also because it happened in a very important period of my career.”
