Marc Marquez is back at the top of the MotoGP World Championship for the first time since the Valencia Grand Prix in 2019 after taking his first Sprint win fo the season in dominating fashion.
Starting from pole, the Spaniard did not leave a single bit of doubt about who would go on to cross the line first. Taking the holeshot into Turn 1, Marquez led his brother Alex and teammate Pecco Bagnaia from the start. There were no changes to the pecking order in the Top 3 until the three crossed the line 13 laps later.
Biggest surprise and likely the performance of the Sprint goes to MotoGP rookie Ai Ogura. Having secured a great 5th starting place ont he grid, the Japanese stayed on the outside line into Turn 1 to take P4 early on.
Being able to stay in podium contention and follow Bagnaia closely for the first half of the Sprint, Ogura eventually lost ground in the later stages of the 13-lap race but finished the day 4th.
After losing 4th to Ogura into Turn 1, Pramac Yamaha rider Jack Miller lost out on P5 in the early stages of the Sprint before ending the day in the gravel trap. The Aussie was the only rider to crash out.
