Moto3 rider Jacob Roulstone has suffered a major setback ahead of the start of his second season in Moto3. The 19-year-old Australian fractured and displaced his C3 vertebrae in his neck following a crash last Friday, cutting short what had been a “good preparation” period.
Roulstone, who rides for Red Bull KTM Tech3, shared the news on social media, detailing his condition and the next steps in his recovery process.
“Last Friday I had a crash whilst training at Jerez which has left me with a fractured and displaced C3 vertebrae in my neck,” he wrote.
Having spent three nights in a hospital in Jerez, the Australian was transferred to Barcelona via medical transport and is now under the care of specialists.
“After three nights in Jerez hospital, I was lucky enough to be medically flown to Barcelona yesterday. I hope to have surgery in the next day or two.”
“It’s a real shame to have this after such good preseason I was having,” Roulstone said, emphasizing that he wants to recover “as fast and as safely as possible” to return to racing.
The injury comes after Roulstone completed a solid rookie Moto3 campaign in 2024. He finished 15th in the standings, securing three eighth places as his best race results of the season.
