Angel Piqueras, Moto3 rookie sensation, switches to MT-MSi team from Leopard Racing in a deal involving a significant transfer fee.
It’s been an open secret in the MotoGP paddock for a while, but now it’s official: Angel Piqueras is heading to the MT Helmets-MSi team for 2025. The Spaniard will join Ryusei Yamanaka Teo Martin’s MT Helmets MSi squad.
Since its debut in the World Championship’s smaller categories, the team has made waves, establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with in both Moto3 and Moto2.
The team’s rapid ascent included a Moto2 title victory in its very first season, with Ai Ogura taking the crown. For much of the season, MT-MSi riders even occupied the top two spots in the standings.
Their Moto3 campaign, although slightly less dominant, was equally impressive. With one race to go in 2024, Ivan Ortola is fourth in the overall standings, while Yamanaka sits 11th, combining for eight podiums so far, including two wins by Ortola.
However, with Moto2 World Champion Ai Ogura moving up to MotoGP with Trackhouse, the MT-MSi team is forced to reshuffle its roster.

While Sergio Garcia stays with the team in 2025, Ivan Ortola makes the step up to the intermediate class within the MT-MSi structure to form a Spanish dream team set to fight for the Moto2 championship next season.
To fill the gap in the Moto3 lineup, team owner Teo Martin aimed high, securing the services of Angel Piqueras.
The 17-year-old Spaniard had signed a two-year deal with Leopard Racing, but MT-MSi opted to pay a substantial six-figure transfer fee to bring the super-rookie over. Piqueras’ talent is beyond question.
In his debut Moto3 season, he is poised to finish eighth in the standings and has already graced every step of the podium.
