Just a couple weeks after signing his first two-year deal for a spot in the factory Ducati team, Marc Marquez is already keen to show his interest in staying with the Italian outfit for longer than the initial two years.

Marquez is by far the best Ducati GP23 and even leaves GP24 rider Enea Bastianini, the man he will replace next year, in the dust in the overall standings.

A year ago the Spaniard still had doubts about his future, however, with a new Ducati factory contract in his pocket, he has no plans to end his MotoGP career any time soon.

“I would like to stay longer [with Ducati] than these two years – two more years [until 2028] after that as well,” Marquez emphasizes talking to speedweek.com.

While a career end was looming over the Spaniard’s head in the last two years with Honda, ever since hopping on the Desmosedici of the Gresini Racing team, retirement is far away for the 8-time World Champion.

“Of course, you never know what might happen but I don’t want to end [my career anytime soon]. As long as I am competitive and can finish consistently in the Top 6, [I will continue].”

Since his time on a struggling, uncompetitive Honda a lot has changed for Marquez. “Every weekend is like an energy boost. Before, I was fighting for the Top 10 and was tired on Monday and Tuesday, then I started training a bit on Wednesday.”

“Now, I get home and I’m full of energy on Monday because I’ve come from a weekend full of adrenaline and a huge boost of positive energy in my body. That’s great fun for me. And when you’re in a team that celebrates these results with you in a great atmosphere, it helps a lot.”
