The situation at Honda is now barely tolerable. At the bottom of all rankings and with problems that are not only not being solved but are getting worse, the lack of reaction from the Japanese is hardly understandable.

The brand with the golden wing has been supplying its official riders with the same parts since the beginning of the year, and after a particularly difficult weekend at the Sachsenring, Joan Mir has lost patience.

The Mallorcan crossed the finish line last Sunday in a disappointing 18th place with no points. Despite the poor situation at Honda, the 2020 World Champion had scored points every time he saw the chequered flag so far in 2024.

Only crashes prevented him from further improving his position in the overall standings. But even the concessions don’t seem to be helping a manufacturer that is more bogged down than ever.

Desperate for improvements while waiting for new parts from the factory, Mir tried a radical set-up change in Germany, but to little avail.

In fact, he reverted to the original configuration for Sunday’s race, continuing to struggle with a bike that is becoming increasingly unstable.

“We had an important meeting after the race because a number of problems arose that prevented me from pushing. It was a difficult weekend for Honda and especially for me.”

“I couldn’t have any fun. The bike was moving a lot. I had a lot of movements and a lot of scary moments, I almost crashed several times without even giving it 100 percent,” explained Mir.

Frustrated with the situation and hoping to understand the multitude of problems he was experiencing at the race in Germany, Mir called an urgent meeting with the entire Honda technical team last Sunday afternoon.

The meeting lasted several hours and afterwards, the team issued a statement from the Mallorcan, who expects to extend his contract with HRC despite the current difficulties.
