New Injury! Jorge Martin to Miss MotoGP Season Opener
MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martin has suffered another big setback ahead of the 2025 season opener in Thailand.

The MotoGP season hasn’t even started yet and we’re already looking at quite the long list of injured riders. Here’s who’s in and who’s out for the season opener at Buriram:
Jorge Martin – Reigning World Champion and Aprilia newcomer Jorge Martin will miss at least the first two rounds of the season after suffering several fractures to his left hand and foot in a training accident.
The Spaniard had successful surgery on Tuesday morning and will be replaced by Lorenzo Savadori. Aprilia motorsport boss Massimo Rivola has confirmed there will be “for sure” no chance of a Jorge Martin comeback for the Argentinian Grand Prix.

Having missed the test at Buriram following a massive crash at the Sepang test, the Spaniard had just started recovery training and was en route for a quick comeback on the bike at the Thai Grand Prix.
Sergio Garcia – Moto2 title candidate Sergio Garcia will miss the first round of the season after a major accident during Moto2’s Jerez test forced the Spaniard to the sideline.
Having fractured a metacarpal bone in the right hand, the 21-year-old will be replaced by MotoE rider Oscar Gutierrez.
Jacob Roulstone – Australian Moto3 rider Jacob Roulstone will miss the season opener in Buriram after fracturing his C3 vertebrae during the winter break. He will be replaced by Joel Esteban.
Noah Dettwiler – Swiss Moto3 rider Noah Dettwiler is set to miss at least the season opener at Buriram after suffering a fracture in his left wrist. The 19-year-old’s Jerez test ended early when he had a massive highsider in Turn 6. Dettwiler will be replaced by Adrian Cruces.
Maximo Quiles – Although not injured, Moto3 rookie Maximo Quiles will have to sit out the Thai Grand Prix. At 16 years old, the Spaniard is still underneath the age limit of MotoGP’s smallest class and will be replaced by Austrian Jakob Rosenthaler until he turns seventeen on March 19th.
