Following the introduction of Sprint races for the 2023 season, the number of crashes in MotoGP had increased massively last season.
However, what provides action and entertainment for spectators is a high risk for MotoGP’s most valuable good – its riders. While crash numbers climbed, injuries had become a regular theme of 2023 race weekends.
But whether it might be riders getting to terms with the sprint format in 2024 or them simply not taking as many risks as they did in the last season, 2023’s astonishing increase of injuries in MotoGP has been stopped. Nevertheless, crash numbers are still relatively high compared to years before the sprint introduction.
