"We Will Sign It!" - Sergio Garcia Wants MotoGP Seat as Soon as Possible
Sergio Garcia wants a MotoGP seat as soon as possible. Should there be an offer for a spot in the premier class, the Moto2 leader “will sign it”.
The MotoGP World Championship is currently taking a summer break until the second part of the season starts with the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. Most of the aces are on holiday, some are testing or even racing like Johann Zarco in Suzuka.
However, some of the contenders for MotoGP promotion are still hoping for a surprise move up to the premier class. Moto2 Championship leader Sergio Garcia, currently riding for MTI-Helmet’s MSi is one of them.
Garcia, who has improved enormously in his second Moto2 year, is certainly hoping for one of the places still up for grabs in Pramac-Yamaha’s newly formed MotoGP squad.
As the team is close to signing experienced MotoGP rider Miguel Oliveira, Garcia is hoping for second place in the team. The Spaniard has already won two Moto2 races this season and finished on the podium a further three times and is going into the offensive.
He states: “The goal is to win the Moto2 World Championship this year. If we get a MotoGP offer, we will sign! I think I have the potential to be a MotoGP rider. I train for it every day and I think I’m close.”
