Alex Marquez claimed his second win of the 2025 season with a commanding ride at the Catalan Grand Prix, beating older brother Marc Marquez in a straight fight at Montmeló.

Enea Bastianini completed the podium, taking his first rostrum finish for the Red Bull KTM Tech3 squad.

Marc Marquez led into Turn 1 and initially looked set to keep his 15-race-long winning streak alive.

With Alex shadowing him closely, however, the older Marquez brother wasn’t able to get away, and, with the field at a moderate, tyre-managing pace, Alex made a move into Turn 1, taking the lead on Lap 4.

From there, the Gresini rider slowly started to ramp up the pace, extending the gap to his brother to over half a second in the late stages of the race.

By lap 21, the lead had grown to seven tenths, and Marc settled for second to complete the Marquez 1-2 at their home Grand Prix.

Behind the two, Bastianini emerged as the fastest rider in the chasing pack. Having moved into third by lap 12, the Italian tried to close the gap and looked for a chance at a spot in the Top 2, but was ultimately unable to match the pace the frontrunners set in the closing stages of the race.

Pedro Acosta ran in podium contention early on thanks to a soft rear tyre gamble, but faded in the second half of the race. He crossed the line fourth, more than seven seconds adrift of the podium.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo made a decisive late-race move on Luca Marini and Ai Ogura to secure fifth place, while Ogura took sixth.

Reigning champion Pecco Bagnaia salvaged seventh after a storming comeback from 21st on the grid.

He passed Marini on the last lap to complete a recovery ride that certainly won’t get rid of the doubts sown by his poor recent form, but might be a sliver of light at the end of a long, dark tunnel that was the Catalan Grand Prix weekend for the Italian.

Miguel Oliveira led the Pramac Yamaha charge in ninth, just ahead of Aprilia’s Jorge Martin in tenth.

Raul Fernandez and Joan Mir followed, while Maverick Viñales was 13th. Jack Miller and Fermin Aldeguer rounded out the points.

The race was littered with incidents, with only 17 riders seeing the chequered flag.

Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio di Giannantonio both crashed at Turn 2 on Lap 2, while Brad Binder only made it to Lap 8 before crashing out of the race from 10th.

Johann Zarco, Alex Rins, Lorenzo Savadori and Franco Morbidelli all crashed later in the race, most of the fallers getting caught out by Turn 10.
