"The GP24 is Great, But..." - Bagnaia Reveals His Favorite MotoGP Ducati
Despite the Desmosedici GP24 being a “great” bike, Pecco Bagnaia thinks it’s not the best-ever MotoGP Ducati. The Italian reveals his favorite.
After five years in MotoGP, Francesco Bagnaia has firmly established himself as a formidable force in the premier class.
The reigning champion, who recently surpassed MotoGP legend Casey Stoner regarding Ducati victories, opened up about his achievements and the evolution of the Desmosedici over the years.
When asked about his comparison with Stoner, the Italian acknowledged the differences in their respective MotoGP eras.
“It’s great that I have already won more than Casey Stoner, but he achieved it in 4 years, and when winning with the Ducati was much more complicated.”
“On the other hand though, winning 23 races during our period isn’t easy as well. There are 8 of us on a Ducati and we are all ready to win,” Bagnaia remarked.
Since his debut in MotoGP, the 25-year-old has witnessed and experienced firsthand the significant advancements in the Ducati Desmosedici.
“The Ducati today is extremely precise and perfect. Since I arrived in MotoGP, they have evolved a lot,” he noted.
However, despite the GP24 being the fastest of them all, Bagnaia is keen to emphasize it’s not his favorite rendition of the Ducati.
Reflecting on earlier models, he said, “The biggest evolution for me was in 20-21. The bike was fantastic and one of my biggest regrets is not winning the 2021 title. Of all the bikes I have ridden, for me, the 2021 and also the 2022 were the best Ducati ever.”
While he acknowledged the merits of the latest models, Bagnaia pointed out that the GP23 and GP24 have their own set of challenges.
“The GP23 and GP24 are great bikes, but they have pros and cons, while the GP22 only had great advantages,” he explained.
