Scott Ogden’s performance at the Thai Grand Prix marked a significant step forward for the Brit, landing him a season-best 8th-place finish. Still, the MLav Racing rider was aiming higher and left Buriram “a little bit disappointed”.
“I wanted a dry race because I was so strong on Saturday.” A promising performance during Saturday’s sessions had him eyeing much more than ‘just’ a points finish.
Unfortunately, Sunday’s unpredictable conditions didn’t fully cooperate with the Brit’s ambitious plans. “I struggled a bit in the wet patches. But in the dry patches, I was strong.”
As the race progressed and the track started to improve lap by lap, the Brit seemed to be missing a small amount of race pace compared to the top runners.
“At the end, when the lap times got a bit faster. They were faster on the wet patches,” Ogden explained.
“I had a big moment, and I just thought, ‘Scott, take points today; it has been a tough year. The last thing I want is to spend a night in the hospital.’”
The year-old leaves Buriram with a feeling of ‘What could have been’. “I took points, but I am disappointed. This weekend we had the potential to fight for the podium.”
