Marc Márquez saw his remarkable 15-race winning streak end at the Catalan Grand Prix, as he finished second behind his younger brother Alex.
It marked Alex’s second MotoGP race win and the Marquezs’ first family one-two since the German Grand Prix in July.
“I already said on Thursday that Alex would be the rider to beat.”
“He’s second in the championship, riding in a very good way. Especially here in Catalunya – he won in Moto3, Moto2, and now MotoGP!”
“I tried everything. With five laps to go, I made a mistake in Turn 7, then another in Turn 10, and I gave up.”

“It’s true [that] Alex today was faster than us. Here is where we usually struggle more, and we were close to the top guy.”
The elder Márquez was clear about where the difference lay.
“He’s super strong in my weak points, the long right corners. Especially Turn 3, Turn 14, the last two corners, and Turn 9. He was riding in a super good way, smooth.”
“I was behind him with the same speed, but fighting against the bike, it’s not about the bike – we have the same bike – it’s about riding style. He was better in that area.”
“On Lap 14, I [would have been] able to overtake him on the straight, but then I closed the gas because the target was to open a gap to the third guy.”
“I knew Alex had a better rhythm, so I just used his slipstream to open a gap to the others.”
“I said on Thursday, this would be the day I need to accept that somebody is faster than me. My little brother was faster this weekend.”

The result was a memorable moment for the Márquez family and their supporters.
“We live 100 km from here. First and second in Aragón was special, but today in Barcelona it’s even more amazing.”
“[Alex] deserves it. He’s working super hard. For the family and friends, it’s a great feeling.”
