Following the introduction of Sprint for the 2023 season, the number of crashes in MotoGP also increased in the first half of the season. However, what provides action and entertainment for spectators is a high risk for the riders.

Already 14 of the 22 regular riders have fallen victim to injuries or other physical ailments, a number that would have been unthinkable in previous years after eight race weekends.

The sad leader in 2023 so far is Honda superstar Marc Marquez, who despite missing several race weekends has already fallen 14 times – five times at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring alone.

With Marquez’s team-mate Joan Mir in second place (12 crashes), the Repsol Honda factory team is at the top of probably the most unpopular and expensive rankings in MotoGP.
