Miguel Oliveira Candidate at Pramac Yamaha? Quartararo on Board
Miguel Oliveira is a serious candidate for a seat in the Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team in 2025. Fabio Quartararo speaks out in his favour.
As the MotoGP World Championship enters its second summer break, attention is shifting to potential rider movements for the 2025 season.
Teams like Gresini-Ducati, Trackhouse-Aprilia, and the then-new Pramac-Yamaha are eyeing talented riders to fill their rosters.
One name prominently featured in discussions is Miguel Oliveira. Currently with Trackhouse-Aprilia, Oliveira is considered a strong candidate for a spot on the Pramac-Yamaha team.
Reports suggesting Trackhouse-Aprilia might consider American rider Joe Roberts from Moto2, aligning with promoter Dorna’s vision for more American representation, fuel the rumour mill surrounding Oliveira.
At 29, the Portuguese rider boasts significant MotoGP experience. He has a solid rapport with Yamaha’s leading rider, Fabio Quartararo, who has been advocating for Oliveira’s inclusion in the team.
Amid these discussions, Oliveira has been advised to make a careful decision regarding his future. Despite being overlooked for a seat in the factory Aprilia team in favor of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi, he remains a coveted talent.
TNT Sports pundit Michael Laverty commented, “He hasn’t done enough to warrant him a factory Aprilia ride. You’ve got to deliver in this sport.”
Laverty added, “He’s got experience and is still young.” This blend of attributes makes Oliveira an appealing prospect for Yamaha, but he must weigh his options carefully.
“Would he go for that Yamaha offer over the Trackhouse contract? Maybe not. He’s a clever rider who will make the right decision.”
Sylvain Guintoli further emphasized that Yamaha could be a suitable fit for Oliveira. However, he also notes that under Davide Brivio’s guidance, the Trackhouse-Aprilia team has seen some positive development.
“When that happens, you don’t want to go,” the Frenchman said, reflecting on the importance of team dynamics in MotoGP when it comes to signing contracts
