Maverick Vinales Set to Ditch Aprilia For THIS Satellite Team
Following weeks of speculation, Maverick Vinales could leave Aprilia after 2024, rumors suggest “Top Gun” is set to join a satellite team.
After a three-year stint with Aprilia, who gave the Spaniard a chance following his fallout with Yamaha mid-2021, Vinales surprised MotoGP fans in recent weeks by saying an extension between the two parties was all but certain.
Fading slightly in performance and trailing his great early season form when he took his first race win on the RS-GP at the Grand Prix of the Americas, Vinales is now set for a move away from Aprilia.
The Spaniard told the media earlier in the year, that money would no longer play a big role in contract negotiations and he was on the hunt for a championship contender bike which he, according to reports by Motorsport.com, has found in the GasGas Tech3 team.
For the first time, the KTM satellite team and Pierer Mobility partner will run current-spec RC-16s in 2025 as KTM intensifies their attempt to put their bike at the very top of MotoGP.
As for Aprilia, the Noale-based outfit will lose both its current factory riders, with Aleix Espargaro having already announced his decision to retire from MotoGP at the end of the year.
