Marquez Makes History as Aldeguer Shines and Bagnaia Disappoints

Marc Marquez claimed his sixth straight MotoGP sprint win at Le Mans ahead of Alex Marquez and rookie sensation Fermin Aldeguer. Fabio Quartararo missed the podium and Pedro Acosta crashed late.

Marc Marquez is turning Saturdays into a personal highlight reel. At Le Mans, the eight-time world champion added yet another line to his comeback story with a commanding performance that secured his sixth consecutive sprint victory, this time by over half a second ahead of brother Alex Marquez.

Rookie Fermin Aldeguer capped off the podium in just his sixth weekend as a MotoGP rider.

The 13-lap sprint had barely settled when the drama started. Francesco Bagnaia was out almost instantly, crashing at Turn 2 on lap 2 and burying his face in his hands in disbelief.

It was yet another hammer blow to his title hopes, especially with Marc in a punishing mood.

Fabio Quartararo had seized the lead from Marquez on the opening lap after the Spaniard took the holeshot.

The Frenchman led the opening stages, but the warning signs were there. By lap three, Marquez was slicing the gap down and posted the fastest lap of the race.

A tense exchange followed on lap six: Marquez took the lead through Garage Vert and didn’t look back.

He immediately stretched out a half-second advantage and controlled the rest of the race from the front.

Behind him, Aldeguer was quietly building his charge. By lap 10, he was all over the back of Quartararo and launched an aggressive pass into third, denying the home favourite a podium finish.

The 19-year-old wasn’t done there – he held off pressure and crossed the line with over half a second in hand on Quartararo.

Pedro Acosta had been on course for fifth and in the thick of a scrap with Maverick Viñales – impressive in itself considering his recent arm pump surgery.

But with just corners to go, the KTM rookie lost the front and slid out, throwing away what would have been a valuable top-five finish. He eventually rejoined and was classified 19th, 28 seconds down.

Johann Zarco delivered a quiet but solid race for Honda, climbing from 11th on the grid to sixth with Fabio di Giannantonio limiting the damage of his P17 start in P7.

Alex Rins and Joan Mir rounded out the point-scoring places.
