Marc Marquez and Ducati have officially ended his 2025 MotoGP campaign following medical advice to continue recovering from the shoulder injury sustained in Indonesia.
The Spaniard fractured the coracoid process and damaged ligaments in a Lap 1 crash with Marco Bezzecchi at Lombok.
After undergoing surgery, Marquez’s latest medical check at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid confirmed that full immobilization of the arm must continue for another four weeks before rehabilitation begins, ruling out any return this year.
The seven-time MotoGP World Champion will therefore miss both the Portuguese and Valencian Grands Prix, as well as the post-season Valencia Test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo on November 18th.

Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna acknowledged the disappointment but reinforced that recovery remains the top priority. “Not taking further risks this year is the best choice for everyone.”
Marquez stated that the decision was made to “respect the biological timing of the injury,” accepting that a demanding winter recovery program back to full fitness for the 2026 season lies ahead.
“This must not overshadow or make us forget the great goal we achieved this year: becoming World Champions again, and soon we will all celebrate it together.”
“Thank you to all the fans for kindly messages, to Ducati and all the sponsors for their support and understanding.”
His focus is now on regaining full strength for 2026 as he targets an eighth premier class title.
Despite the early season end, Marquez confirmed he will attend the Valencia Grand Prix as a spectator and hinted at upcoming celebrations for his 2025 championship success.
Ducati Corse will announce the Spaniard’s replacement for the final two rounds in the coming weeks, with World Superbike runner-up Nicolo Bulega rumored to stand in.
