Manuel Gonzalez to Join Intact GP for 2025 Moto2 Season

After one year in the Gresini Moto2 team, Manu Gonzalez will join Intact GP in 2025. The Spaniard will team up with 2024 rookie surprise Senna Agius.

Manu Gonzalez and Intact GP will join forces in Moto2 for 2025

In a surprise announcement just moments before the Moto2 qualifying session at MotorLand Aragon, the Intact GP team, led by manager Jürgen Lingg, revealed the signing of Manuel Gonzalez for the 2025 season.

Gonzalez will compete alongside Senna Agius, replacing former MotoGP rider Darryn Binder, who, despite showing improved form recently, will have to make way for the young Spaniard.

Currently racing for Gresini Racing in Moto2, the 22-year-old Gonzalez is tied for ninth in the championship standings with Aron Canet.Unlike many of his peers who have risen through the ranks within the traditional GP structure, Gonzalez took a more unconventional path to the MotoGP paddock.

At just 17 years old, he clinched the 2018 World Championship title in the 300cc Supersport category. Following a successful stint in the 600cc class, finishing third in 2021, Gonzalez made his Moto2 debut, initially racing for VR46 Master Camp. For 2024, he transitioned to the Moto2 team of Nadia Padovani’s Gresini Racing.

Gonzalez is “very happy to have signed with Intact GP for the 2025 Moto2 season” as “the team has shown great interest in having me as a rider for next year”.

“We both have high expectations, and as always, I am committed to giving 100%. We will fight for top positions, and I can’t wait to start working towards our goals with them in 2025.”

Husqvarna Intact GP team manager Jürgen Lingg, emphasized the value Gonzalez brings to the team: “With Manuel Gonzalez, we’ve signed a world champion who has consistently improved in Moto2 over the past few years. We hope to continue this upward trend together next year and aim to push for top positions.”

“The timing of this change is perfect for everyone involved, as Manuel has gained significant experience in this highly competitive category, which will be a great asset to our team structure. Everyone in the team is thrilled with our new addition, and we’re all looking forward to working together.”

Gonzalez will partner up with Australian Senna Agius, who team manager Lingg believes to be able to “make a significant step forward next season” given the “the experience he’s gained” his first full year in the championship.

However, Gonzalez and Agius partnering up means former MotoGP rider Darry Binder will have to make way. Lingg expressed his respect for Darryn Binder:

“I want to thank Darryn for the great collaboration. It’s been a pleasure working with him, and we’ll do everything we can to build on the significant progress he’s made in recent races.”
