KTM Reaffirms Commitment Despite “Plan to Leave MotoGP”
KTM confirms its commitment to racing for 2025, despite revealed plans to withdraw from MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3.
KTM faces €1.8 billion in debt. A reported €900 million investment offers hope for the brand’s future and the Austrian’s MotoGP commitment.
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM was hit by a financial storm when the company’s insolvency filing revealed a confirmed debt of €1.8 billion. However, even as speculation about a potential exit after the 2026 season floats around the paddock, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3.
KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer reaffirmed the company’s dedication to motorsport: “Our heart beats for motorsport, and that won’t change. KTM’s motorsport programme – MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 – is a fixed component for the future of the company, even in the current restructuring process.”
“We have valid contracts with the promoter of the MotoGP series and will be on the grid in 2025 and 2026.“
KTM’s ‘survival’ plan includes securing external investments. According to GPOne, the Austrian manufacturer has secured €900 million after several big investors, including Indian manufacturer Bajaj, Chinese motorcycle brand CFMOTO, and Hong-Kong-based Fountainvest.
The proposed injection of capital, coupled with a 10% projected market growth in key market regions for 2025, offers a glimmer of hope for the company’s recovery.
Drastic measures had been implemented since late-2024 to stabilize the business, including production halts, workforce reductions, and a significant scaling back of its operations. KTM has outlined a comprehensive restructuring plan that will be voted on in a crucial creditors’ meeting on February 25.

As KTM looks ahead to the 2025 MotoGP season, its presence on the grid remains strong. Four KTM RC16s will compete under the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and Red Bull KTM Tech3 banners.
Riders Brad Binder, Pedro Acosta, Enea Bastianini, and Maverick Vinales will represent the brand. Beirer expressed optimism the Austrians’ MotoGP project could survive even after 2026:
“We’re focused on keeping KTM sustainable in motorsport not just until 2026, but beyond. With passionate teams, fast bikes, and motivated riders, we’re ready to tackle the challenges ahead. We are ready to race!”
