Ivan Ortola delivered a stunning performance to claim pole position for round fifteen of the Moto3 Indonesian Grand Prix. The MT Helmets – MSI rider saved his best for last, setting a new all-time lap record of 1m 37.332s, putting himself at the top of the grid.

This pole comes at a crucial time, as Ortola will face a double long lap penalty during the race for slow riding infractions earlier in the weekend.

Collin Veijer, who dominated on Friday, remained a strong contender throughout qualifying. The Liqui Moly Husqvarna rider finished second, 0.257s behind Ortola, despite two out-of-seat moments on his final laps. His consistent speed throughout the weekend sets him up as a serious threat for the race.

Taiyo Furusato, the polesitter in Emilia Romagna, completed the front row in third. Despite an early crash during Friday’s practice and another fall in Q2, the Honda Team Asia rider put in a strong performance to secure his position.

Adrian Fernandez followed closely, taking fourth place for Leopard Racing, making full use of the slipstreams in a tightly contested session.

Championship leader David Alonso had a challenging weekend after a crash in Friday’s practice session left him sore. Despite this, the CFMoto Gaviota Aspar rider bounced back to secure fifth place, just over half a second off the pace.

Alonso will be aiming for a strong race performance to further solidify his championship lead, while Luca Lunetta and Tatsuki Suzuki rounded out the top seven.
