Honda on the Front Row as Marc Marquez Takes Pole Position in Argentina

Championship leader Marc Marquez takes pole position in Argentina as Johann Zarco makes Honda dreams come true.

Setting a new all-time lap record and the first and only 1:36s lap around Termas, MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez takes pole position in Argentina.

The Spaniard makes it back-to-back P1s on the grid for the first time since 2019 and leads Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco onto the front row.

Zarco was able to latch onto the factory Ducati rider’s rear tyre and set an incredible 1:37.205 to take Honda’s first front row start in almost two years.

The Frenchman topped even Pecco Bagnaia who finished qualifying fourth ahead of KTM frontrunner Pedro Acosta. Having had trouble to get a lap going in Thailand the Spaniard is looking set for the top 5 fight in Termas.

Fabio di Giannantonio led the charge for VR46 Racing ahead of Fabio Quartararo in 7th.

VR46 teammate Franco Morbidelli fought his way through Q1 setting the then-second-fastest lap of the weekend but was not able to improve further. He will start 8th on the grid.

Marco Bezzecchi will be slightly disappointed with his qualifying. Despite recoginizing a struggle for all-out one-lap pace on Friday, the Italian will have expected more than a distant 9th.

Joan Mir rounds out the top 10 for Honda ahead of Brad Binder and Fabio Quartararo.
