Here’s How Q2 Entry Is Decided If Friday’s MotoGP Practice Is Canceled

For the first time in 2023, only Friday’s MotoGP Practice session decided who would make it into Q2. But what happens if the session is canceled?
In a press release on Wednesday, MotoGP announced exactly that. If the Friday practice session was canceled, a decision about the entry into Q2 would not be possible.
To avoid this scenario, the Grand Prix Commission adopted a new rule before the British Grand Prix two weeks ago.
If Friday practice is cancelled, the decision on direct entry into Q2 will be postponed until Saturday morning. Free Practice 2 on Saturday morning will then become Practice.
If it is also not possible to hold this session, the ranking of FP1 will be taken into account.
