Enea Bastianini has been struggling in MotoGP since switching to the factory Ducati. The Italian will get help in 2024 from an old friend.

For several years, riders of the Gresini Racing team have received valuable support from former world champion turned riding coach Manuel Poggiali.

Introduced as a riding coach before the 2019 season, Poggiali took care of Gresini riders in Moto2, Moto3, and MotoE.

When the team made a return to MotoGP as an independent team in 2022, Poggiali extended his support to the premier class riders.

Enea Bastianini, who had a remarkable season the previous year, won four races under Poggiali’s guidance. However, the 2023 season, having switched to the factory GP23, has been challenging for the Italian.

Bastianini admitted, “I need to improve my riding style” and mentioned his struggle with the braking phase and corner entries, areas where he used to excel with the GP21 bike in 2022.

Despite his difficulties, Ducati continues to back their second rider and is making efforts to help him regain his form.

According to a report from GPOne.com, Ducati will reunite Bastianini and Poggiali in the factiry Ducati Team. Poggiali’s primary focus will be supporting Bastianini, but he will also continue his role with the Gresini team, which will feature Alex and Marc Marquez.

Alex Marquez emphasized, “Nothing will change for us,” highlighting the continuity of Poggiali’s support for their team.

The Spaniard explained: “Manuel will no longer assist Gresini’s Moto2 riders. He is a valuable asset to our team.”

“If he can share additional insights from the factory team, it will benefit everyone. I believe it’s a wise decision for both parties, Ducati and Gresini.”
