Jake Dixon claimed pole position for the Moto2 Japanese Grand Prix with a standout lap of 1:52.693, marking his second pole of the season. The CFMoto Inde Aspar rider set his fastest time early in the qualifying session, which proved crucial as rain intensified, preventing any further improvements.

Zonta van den Goorbergh achieved his best qualifying result in second, just 0.006 seconds behind Dixon. Aron Canet, who previously secured a pole in Indonesia, finished third, while Joe Roberts rounded out the top four, showcasing a special cherry blossom helmet for the occasion.

Izan Guevara qualified fifth, marking his best result yet, and Diogo Moreira emerged as the top rookie in sixth. Barry Baltus (7th) and Alonso Lopez (8th) completed the top eight, with Ai Ogura, the championship leader, starting ninth for his home race.

Tony Arbolino and Deniz Oncu, both checking track conditions late in the session, qualified tenth and thirteenth, respectively. Filip Salac, who had set a record lap in practice, faced issues during Q2 and could only manage a time over four seconds slower than Dixon, starting from 18th.

Championship contender Sergio Garcia struggled, finishing 17th after missing the best weather conditions. Manuel Gonzalez topped Q1 and will start 14th.
