Revealed at Milan’s EICMA, Brembo will bring new brake caliper to MotoGP in 2025 aimed to help MotoGP teams handle extreme heat and stress. The updates will also bring more stopping power.
With teams now routinely pushing placing an even heavier burden on the braking systems thanks to the increased downforce, especially on the front of the bikes.
For tracks with brutal braking demands – like Austria’s Red Bull Ring and Japan’s Motegi – the current calipers have sometimes struggled under extreme heat.
In recent years, Brembo’s innovations have focused on enhancing brake disc configurations, with new dimensions and compound “cocktails” tailored to each track’s unique demands.
However, Brembo’s latest design addresses core thermal and structural challenges in a way that previous models could not.
The 2025 brake caliper, set to debut at Barcelona’s post-season test in November, sports a refined geometry designed for better cooling and increased resistance to high temperatures.
By increasing the mounting width to 22 mm, Brembo has optimized the pad’s surface area, providing higher braking force and a more consistent response under severe conditions.
A repositioned bleed valve will also streamline maintenance, making brake bleeding faster and safer for mechanics in the tight turnaround times of a MotoGP weekend.
The new model is larger and adds about 25 grams over its predecessor, yet it reduces the manual force needed to brake by about 0.4 kg, aiding rider control in high-speed maneuvers.
While Brembo’s older GP4 calipers remain available as an option, this newly launched system offers a vital upgrade.
