Termas podium finisher Franco Morbidelli continues his good form in MotoGP’s first session of the Americas Grand Prix weekend.
Despite taking top spot in the full-wet session, the Italian however, wasn’t the one making the headlines on early Friday.
Finishing third in the timesheet, Marc Marquez delivered one of the key moments of the session when he, in proper Marquez style, suffered a nasty highside in Turn 2 during the openeing fifteen minutes of the session.

After getting back out on the second bike, Marquez set the third-fastest time of the session finishing 0.16s behind Miller in P2 and less than a tenth ahead of Honda surprise Johann Zarco.
Pedro Acosta led the charge for KTM in 5th with Pecco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez separating the Spaniard from his fellow KTM colleagues Vinales and Binder in 8th and 9th.
Miguel Oliveira replacement Augusto Fernandez rounded out the Top 10 ahead of both factory Honda riders.
Being short on riders, and with Jorge Martin watching the action from inside the Aprilia garage, Aprilia and Marco Bezzechi in perticular started the weekend on the wrong foot.

Encountering THREE techissues throughout the session, which the Italians tracked down to be a fuel pump issue and the bike switching into engine recovery mode two times due to the unexpectedly low temperatures, Marco Bezzecchi day turned from bad to worse when he highsided in Turn 5. The Italian finished the day a distant 19th.
