Round 15 of the Moto2 championship at the Indonesian Grand Prix saw Aron Canet deliver a dominant performance, winning by 6.128 seconds at the Pertamina Mandalika track. Starting from pole position, Canet briefly lost the lead to Ai Ogura but quickly reclaimed it.
Canet’s victory allowed him to silence critics, as he gestured with a finger to his lips after crossing the finish line. Ogura, the championship leader, secured second place but struggled to significantly close the gap to Canet after initially battling with Alonso Lopez who claimed the final podium spot after a fierce fight with Fermin Aldeguer.
Joe Roberts made significant progress throughout the weekend, climbing from 22nd on the grid to finish sixth. Izan Guevara initially took seventh but was later disqualified for a weight infringement, while Deniz Oncu finished as the top rookie in ninth.
Marcos Ramirez rounded out the top ten, followed by Jeremy Alcoba and Albert Arenas in 13th and 14th, respectively, with Filip Salac finishing 15th after Guevara’s disqualification.
The race featured several incidents, including Somkiat Chantra’s retirement due to a foot injury and Jaume Masia’s early exit. Ogura’s second-place finish allowed him to extend his championship lead to 42 points. Canet’s victory moved him into third place with 156 points.
