In an intense showdown against fellow Spaniard Brian Uriarte, 17-year-old Alvaro Carpe emerged victorious in the 2024 Red Bull Rookies Cup.
With this triumph, Carpe not only secured his spot with the Aki Ajo KTM Moto3 team for 2025 but also gained an unexpected wildcard entry for the Moto3 World Championship finale in Barcelona.
Aki Ajo didn’t hesitate to sign Carpe for the 2025 Moto3 season, where he’ll join forces with Jose Antonio Rueda on the KTM-Ajo team. Speaking on his decision, Ajo remarked, “I’m truly happy to welcome another Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion to our structure.”
“Alvaro was the clear choice for us – his potential, speed, and maturity have been evident throughout the season. His podiums and victories demonstrate his relentless work ethic and commitment to his goals. I believe he and Rueda will make a strong team, learning and pushing each other forward.”
Carpe himself is brimming with excitement at the opportunity. “I’m incredibly thrilled about my wildcard entry. Racing in a World Championship event has been a dream since I was a kid, and to do so with such an iconic team is a proud moment.”
Beyond his Rookies Cup title, Carpe is also leading the JuniorGP World Championship standings with just two races left.
Originally scheduled for November 24 in Valencia, the JuniorGP final faces rescheduling due to current weather crises in the area, leaving Carpe’s final push for another title momentarily on hold.
