Alex Marquez claimed his first pole of the 2025 season at the Catalunya Grand Prix, edging Fabio Quartararo and Marc Marquez to the front row.
The Gresini rider set a 1m37.536s in the closing minutes of Q2. Quartararo had earlier lit up the session by breaking the 1:38 mark, but Alex Marquez responded with an even stronger late attack.
The Spaniard topped the session by 0.267s, while his brother Marc Marquez had to settle for third after a late mistake ruined his final flier.

Franco Morbidelli continued his strong qualifying form to take fourth for VR46, narrowly ahead of KTMās Pedro Acosta.
The Spaniard had briefly gone fastest before his lap was deleted for track limits, leaving him to lead the orange bikes in fifth place.Ā
Teammate Brad Binder could only manage 11th after early electrical issues forced him onto his second bike.
Fabio di Giannantonio completed a strong day for VR46 in sixth, while Johann Zarco led the charge for Honda in seventh.
Rookie Ai Ogura made his return to the front three rows in eighth, comfortably ahead of Apriliaās lead factory rider Marco Bezzecchi down in 12th.
Enea Bastianini took ninth for Tech3 KTM, with Luca Marini putting the factory Honda 10th just in front of Binder.
KTMās performance will be a bit of a disappointment after topping practice on Friday, with Acosta their highest rider in only fifth.
At the opposite end, Pecco Bagnaia endured a nightmare Saturday. The reigning champion slumped to 21st in Q1, his worst qualifying in three years, and will share the seventh row on the grid with Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori and Somkiat Chantra.
