Alex Marquez Stuns Jerez with First MotoGP Win as Chaos Strikes Rivals

Alex Marquez claimed a brilliant maiden MotoGP victory at Jerez after a chaotic race that saw Marc Marquez crash out and Pecco Bagnaia lose out to Fabio Quartararo.

Alex Marquez is officially a MotoGP race winner. And he did it in style, controlling a chaotic Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez to take a hugely emotional first victory – while big names around him faltered.

The race kicked off with Fabio Quartararo grabbing the holeshot into Turn 1, ahead of Pecco Bagnaia. Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez slotted into third and fourth, with Fermin Aldeguer impressively holding on in fifth.

Early chaos wasn’t far away: Marco Bezzecchi crashed out on lap two, and it set the tone for what was to come.

Marc Marquez, who had looked threatening early on, dramatically crashed out from third place just a few laps later.

That crash cleared the way for Alex Marquez. He seized the opportunity with both hands, making an aggressive but clean move on Quartararo into Turn 1 to take the lead on lap 10.

Once out front, the younger Marquez quickly settled into a rhythm that nobody else could match.

Behind him, Quartararo tried to hang on but was under heavy pressure from Bagnaia.

The Ducati man knew he needed to clear the Yamaha quickly if he wanted any shot at catching Marquez.

But despite several attempts, Bagnaia couldn’t find a way through. Every time he closed in, Quartararo managed to hang tough — even as his Yamaha grew increasingly unstable through the faster sections.

Meanwhile, Maverick Viñales was mounting a late charge. At one stage, he was the fastest rider on the circuit and was closing in on the podium battle, but ultimately ran out of time.

Further back, drama continued. Franco Morbidelli had a heavy crash at Turn 11, while Joan Mir’s nightmare run continued with another DNF – his ninth in the last 11 races.

Looking set for an incredible podium charge, rookie sensation Aldeguer crashed out from a brilliant fourth place.

As the final laps unfolded, Alex Marquez simply stretched his advantage. With a two-second gap over Quartararo and Bagnaia falling back slightly, the race for the win was never really in doubt.

When the chequered flag dropped, it was Alex Marquez who celebrated an emotional first MotoGP victory.

Quartararo held on for second, giving Yamaha a much-needed podium, while Bagnaia had to settle for third after failing to make the breakthrough.
