Pedro Acosta ended Friday practice at Balaton Park on top with his 1m37.061 enough to edge Marc Marquez by just six thousandths.
The factory Ducati rider had looked strong throughout, but, like many, had his final time attack disrupted by late yellow flags following crashes by Pedro Acosta and Johann Zarco.
A late flyer in the closing stages put him 0.006s behind P1, behind his younger brother Alex Marquez, who, though not without controversy, secured third.
Having felt impeded by Pol Espargaro in front of him, the Spaniard was cruising on the racing line at Turn 3 just as Miller and Bagnaia, both of whom failed to clinch a spot in Q2 later on, arrived on hot laps.

Shrugging off the incident, Marquez’s late effort slotted him ahead of teammate Fermin Aldeguer, who finished fourth, only 0.314s off top spot.
Fifth went to Enea Bastianini, who was the first rider to dip into the 1m37s bracket on a fresh soft tyre before the final push.
Franco Morbidelli followed in sixth despite an early trip through the Turn 5 gravel after outbraking himself.
Joan Mir had a busy afternoon, logging 28 laps – the most of anyone – and finished the day seventh ahead of Vinales replacement, Pol Espargaro, in P8.
Luca Marini and Fabio Quartararo rounded out the Top 10, with the Frenchman denying World Champion Jorge Martin a direct spot in Q2 by 0.001s.
Martin will join big names in Q1 as his Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi, Pecco Bagnaia and Fabio di Giannantonio all missed the Q2 cut in the final seconds of the session.
