Honda’s MotoGP resurgence was confirmed in Free Practice 1 at Mandalika, as Luca Marini set the fastest time to lead the opening session of the Indonesian Grand Prix weekend. The Italian posted a 1:30.809, edging out KTM’s Pedro Acosta by 0.136s.
Acosta, who twice flirted with disaster in what looked to be quite greasy, low-grip conditions around Mandalika, recovered from two big early scares to become the first rider into the 1m30s bracket before Marini snatched back top spot in the closing minutes.

Marco Bezzecchi ensured Aprilia’s representation in third, having led the session in its early stages.
Alex Rins led the charge for Yamaha in fourth, ahead of Ducati’s freshly crowned World Champion Marc Marquez, who ‘survived’ a Turn 1 wobble and an off-track excursion leaving pitlane to round out the top five.

Jack Miller led the Pramac Yamaha effort in sixth, with Fabio Quartararo close behind in seventh.
Fabio Di Giannantonio added a VR46 Ducati inside the top eight, with Joan Mir and Alex Marquez rounding out the top ten.
Raul Fernandez, running a beautiful rendition of the iconic Gulf livery for Trackhouse Racing, ended the first session of the day 11th, ahead of Franco Morbidelli in 12th.
Johann Zarco placed 13th for LCR Honda, just 0.002s behind the Italian, while Brad Binder and Maverick Viñales lined up the second KTM and Tech3 entries in 14th and 15th.
Fermin Aldeguer’s early crash at Turn 1 did not prevent him from returning to 16th.

Pecco Bagnaia, fresh from a strong Motegi, could only manage 17th, 1.091s down, continuing Ducati’s mixed form in Indonesia.
Enea Bastianini was 18th on the Tech3 KTM, with Miguel Oliveira in 19th for Pramac Yamaha. World Superbikes bound Somkiat Chantra closed out the order in 20th for LCR Honda.
