Marquez Hits Double-Digit Sprint Wins with Last-Lap Stunner in Germany

Marc Marquez scores his 10th sprint victory of the season at the Sachsenring with a dramatic last-lap move on Marco Bezzecchi. Fabio Quartararo returns to the podium.

Marc Marquez delivered another late-race masterclass at the Sachsenring, taking his 10th sprint race victory of the season with a final-lap overtake on Marco Bezzecchi.

The eight-time world champion timed his charge to perfection, overhauling the Aprilia rider just before the chequered flag.

Bezzecchi had looked in control for most of the 15-lap dash, leading from Turn 1 after Marquez ran wide at the start.

By mid-distance, the gap to Marquez was over three seconds, but the tide began to turn when the Ducati rider found a second wind with five laps to go.

The chase intensified in the closing laps. By lap 12, Marquez had slashed the lead to under a second.

Bezzecchi, visibly struggling to keep the Aprilia on line, couldn’t shake the Ducati shadow.

On the final tour, Marquez launched a clean move, sealing yet another Saturday win – and a bit of sprint history, edging past Jorge Martin for most sprint wins in a single season.

Behind them, Fabio Quartararo held off Fabio di Giannantonio to secure a hard-fought third – his first sprint podium since Assen 2023.

The Yamaha rider’s early aggression and the great start paid off. Although di Giannantonio closed the gap rapidly in the final laps, the Italian ultimately ran out of time to make a move.

Jack Miller was the best of the rest in fifth, while Brad Binder took sixth after scrapping with Johann Zarco and Alex Marquez – the latter visibly hindered by his injured hand.

Pedro Acosta’s race unravelled after an off-track moment at Turn 8 while running in podium contention.

He rejoined through the gravel but could only manage ninth by the chequered flag.

Franco Morbidelli had a nasty high-speed crash from second early in the race. He was taken to the medical centre for evaluation.

At the time of writing there has not been an update on the Italian. (UPDATE: Morbidelli has suffered a severe contusion of the left collarbone and will be transferred to Chemnitz Hospital for further evaluation.)

Francesco Bagnaia endured a nightmare run, finishing outside the top ten and over 20 seconds behind the leaders.
