Returning to track action at Mandalika last week for a private track day on a Panigale V4 Ducati, ‘Diggia’ has once again suffered a major setback.

Losing the front in a turn five crash in Sepang, the Italian fractured his left collarbone tumbling through the gravel trap. He will miss the two remaining days of testing in Sepang.

The VR46 rider will fly to Italy this evening to get surgery as fast as possible in an attempt to recover for the season start in Buriram later this month.

In late 2024, Di Giannantonio was forced into a winter of recovery after electing to miss the final two rounds of the 2024 season to have surgery on a shoulder he dislocated at the Austrian Grand Prix.

‘Diggia’ is the latest addition to a now three-man-long list of riders injured on day one of the Sepang Test.

Jorge Martin suffered a massive highsider in the first half of the day, being eventually diagnosed with fractures in his hand and foot while Raul Fernandez broke a metacarpal bone in his left hand.

Reigning World Champion Jorge Martin will miss the remainder of the Sepang MotoGP test after suffering fractures following a major crash.

The Italian is one of only three riders with a GP25 Ducati this season, and already missed his first opportunity to get on the bike at the post-season test in Barcelona.

With just one week to go until the next test in Thailand, Di Giannantonio has a tight schedule to get back to full fitness to gain some vital track time on the GP25 before the season starts in Thailand.

Despite his turn five crash, he completed a full 49 laps and finished the test seventh-fastest on the timesheets.
