David Alonso clinched his sixth consecutive Moto3 victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix, leading an emotional podium dedicated to flood-hit Valencia.
Starting third, the CFMoto Gaviota Aspar rider dropped to 11th after avoiding Daniel Holgado’s crash on lap three. He steadily moved back up, aided by a few mechanical retirements, rejoining the front pack by the race’s halfway point.
Alonso closed in on early leaders Joel Kelso and Taiyo Furusato, making his decisive move with just three laps left. Despite a wide moment near the kerb, Alonso secured the win, matching Marc Marquez’s record with 13 season victories.
Furusato, starting 17th, surged to the front but narrowly missed the top spot by 0.088s, while Jose Antonio Rueda claimed third after a late charge past Ivan Ortola on the final lap.
Ortola ended fourth, followed by Collin Veijer in fifth, and Kelso, who led early but struggled after running wide, finishing sixth. Rookie Luca Lunetta completed the top ten for SIC58 Squadra Corse, with Stefano Nepa and Matteo Bertelle following closely.
Adrian Fernandez, who started from pole, retired due to engine issues, joined by fellow Honda engine users Angel Piqueras and Scott Ogden. The race saw multiple crashes, including early retirements from Joel Esteban and Riccardo Rossi after a highside at turn two.
