'Focused' Joe Roberts Doesn't 'Think About 2025 MotoGP Until Offer is There'
Following Joe Roberts’s return to winning ways in 2024, the American has found his way on the 20205 MotoGP radar – and might find a spot in an American team.
In his seventh full-time Moto2 season, Joe Roberts is finally in the fight for the title. Seven rounds into the season, the 26-year-old is 2nd in the championship with four podium finishes and one race win at Mugello.
Following his newfound rise in form, the American naturally is linked to MotoGP for the 2025 season. With the premier class rider market in turmoil, however, the American’s chances have become rather slim.
Rumors suggesting he could be a strong candidate for American MotoGP team Trackhouse Racing have yet to be confirmed
In an interview with GPOne.com, the American did not hide that he feels more pressure from the results in 2024: ‘Winning can certainly help. Victories, pole positions, podiums, these are all things that decision-makers pay close attention to.”
“I feel a lot of pressure this season because I’m getting good results. I don’t want to think too much about it. I’ve been competing in this category for several years and this year I have the chance to fight for the title, so I’m going to focus on that.”
“As for my future, it’s clear that interest in having an American rider in MotoGP is growing, but we’ll see what happens’.”
As for now, the American wants to focus on clinching more race wins and, eventually, the Moto2 championship title.
“The fact that we’re already talking about the future at this point in the season can certainly be a distracting element, but I’ve worked a lot on my mental strength, also thanks to the people close to me.”
“I prefer not to think about this until I have the offer in front of me; the paddock likes to talk and speculate, which is normal. I have people who take care of that, so I can focus on my job as a rider.”
