In recent weeks, both Tech3 rookies Gadner and Fernandez got linked to a possible move to RNF Aprilia for 2023. Now, Massimo Rivola reveals what riders Aprilia wants in their new satellite team.

Since it was clear that the in 2022 formed RNF Racing Team of Razlan Razali would switch manufacturer, there have been big speculations surrounding their possible rider line-up for the new season.

With old-master Andrea Dovizioso leaving MotoGP at the end of the season for good, there are four candidates for the seats in 2023 – Darryn Binder, Remy Gardner, Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira.

But, although the rider market is in turmoil after Suzuki’s exit, the officials at Aprilia do not rush to define their rider pairing.

In an interview with Speedweek.com, Aprilia team manager Massimo Rivola says he’s relaxed about the situation. “We look at the rider market and we are not in a hurry.”

He refers to the business plan of the relativly small and young team. “We also need to take into account […] the budget we have for the satellite team.”

For Rivola building a structure for the client team and keeping the budget tight is a bigger concern at the moment. “What worries me is building good structures for the clent team.”

He continues: “For us, the client team is a way of strengthening the company . We don’t want to stretch the budget too much.”

In accordance to that and a way to reduce costs for the satellite team, the team manager confirms, Aprilia “wants a young rider”. Rivola states: “We want a rookie and a yound rider with some experience.”

Unfortunately, the Italian does not go further into detail as “the choice of riders does not put any problems for us [Aprilia].”
