Pol Espargaro wants to be back in MotoGP in June, however, Mugello comes too soon – In Italy, Jonas Folger jumps back for another time.

Pol Espargaro’s comeback is postponed. For weeks, the Spaniard hoped that he could return to MotoGP at the Italian Grand Prix, which takes place next weekend in Mugello. However, he will have to wait a little longer.

Unfortunately for the Spaniard, an edema in a vertebra in his back still needs to be treated. Therefore, Espargaro can not yet be in Mugello on his Tech3-GasGas.

At the season opener in Portimao, Espargaro had crashed heavily on the first day of practice and suffered several injuries. In recent weeks, rehabilitation has focused on his vertebral injuries.

“I was looking forward to getting back on my bike,” says Espargaro. “But as I said from the beginning, the final decision is up to the doctors. They advised me to wait a few more days.”

As MotoGP is heading for a triple-header including Mugello, the Sachsenring and Assen, getting fit for the time after the Italian Grand Prix is now crucial for the Spaniard.

“My original plan was to return at one of the three races before the summer break. That continues to be the idea. The important thing is that I’m physically ready for it. Now I can spend a few more days at home preparing.”

“I want to return in the best possible shape. I already feel good and am highly motivated. I hope to see my team, everyone in the sport and of course the fans again soon.”
