Reconstruction Work At Sachsenring - New Long-Lap Penalty

The Sachsenring operators are once again investing a lot of money to make the traditional circuit more compatible with MotoGP.
In 2023, the Sachsenring will host the German Grand Prix of the MotoGP for the 25th time. The track operators are trying to further adapt the track to the requirements of MotoGP in the period up to the summer.
The premier class of motorbike sport has been racing at the Sachsenring since 1998, and on the current layout since 2022.
For safety reasons, Turn 1 is to be extended for the coming season, and the current MotoGP long-lap penalty will have to make way for it.

In order to comply with MotoGP regulations, the long lap penalty will move to Turn 13.
Currently, due to the bad weather, the rebuild is a race against time. The first IDM championship race is already scheduled for mid-May. By then, at the latest, the track must be passable again.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of March. Those responsible are optimistic that the track will be handed over on time.
