Options For Takaaki Nakagami Are Running Out - Honda Manager Not Interested

Takaaki Nakagami’s MotoGP career is close to coming to an end after five years in the premier class. Alex Rins has already signed with LCR Honda for the 2023 MotoGP season.

Nakagami has recently been linked with the role of Honda MotoGP test rider. But a move to the World Superbike Championship was also under discussion.

However, Honda teammanager Leon Carmier does not think the Japanese is an option for the Honda Superbike Team.

In an exclusive interview with “Motorsport-Total.com” during the WSBK event in Most, the English confirms the disinterest by Honda: “No, not at the moment.”

With the factory team obviously uninterested and probably confirming their current line-up for the 2023 season as well, options for Nakagmai are running out.

The Japanese is said to be replaced by Ai Ogura, who after steadily scoring big points over the course of the first half of the season is just one point off Moto2 Championship leaders Celestino Vietti and Augusto Fernandez.

Although Ogura himself emphasizes he isn’t ready yet for MotoGP, rumours surrounding his transfer to LCR Honda do not die down.
